The Price is Right

Hey:
It’s Friday and I am at the end of a week of treatment. 31 down and 14 to go, a real marathon to be sure. Time for some mirth! Want a good laugh? If yes check out this video with me, Kathy, our daughter Abby and a dear friend Mark (cool mustache) in the studio audience of the game show, The Price is Right. There was a time I would of had to add a lot of meaningful commentary to this and have an important spiritual analogy to draw, but now I am just content to say that “Laughter is like Medicine” (Proverbs 17:22) and while I am beating this cancer out here in California I need all the laughs I can get. God is good. Have Fun!

Hang in there James — My kids and I have been praying for your recovery every night since we met in Israel.
Just the other night my son Luke asked me if I was going to get cancer and loose my hair… I told him I dont know if God would have me to go through that or not…
he replied “that would be OK because you dont have much hair left anyways to loose – ha ha!!
we all laughed together thinking of you.
God bless you! (He already has blessed me through WITW)

James,
Way to mug for the camera! What’s more hilarious, giddy game show participants or a mid-west pastor loose in California?
Praying for your full healing James!

Priceless! Way to go James. I was trying to read your lips after the old lady placed her bid but I couldn’t make out what you were saying. What did it take to land on the front row?
Ryan:
I was saying, “I have no idea” re the front row, I guess I have friends in high places, ha ha. So do you. !!

Pastor James,
Good to see you smiling and having so much fun! I visited your church once, but live too far to attend regularly. I listen to your program mornings on Moody, and have for several years. Cancer could not have happened to a better man, and you will be victorious!
Prayers,

I will pray for you. Your book I Want to Change So Help Me God has been a great resource for me. Get better fast.

Hey James…
Knowing this was coming up, and given the need for any kind of distraction to survive the winter here, we actually closed the office and had a staff team lunch at our place to watch the show. Thanks for all the fun! We really enjoyed “the show inside the show”.
Todd and the staff at Harvest Bible Chapel, Barrie, Ontario
Todd: Hilarious!! Great winter leadership, ha ha, love you!

I have a friend who often refers to me as the “black” James MacDonald because of my appearance and preaching manner. Now after seeing you clowning around on the video, he is convinced we were seperated ar birth. Would send you a pic, but you have probably been through enough this week >smile<.
Keeping you in my prayers.

James,
I had no idea what you were enduring!!! Sounds like your not slowing down a bit! Whats up with that!!!
My 11 year old son had an ordeal last year with a brain tumor, the good news is his hair is growing back and we have been playing racquetball together!

James,
You are very clearly commanded not to cause a brother to stumble (Romans 14, 1 Corinthians 8). And seeing you at The Price is Right made me covet. Man, that was kewl! Press on, brother.

Pastor James, How great to see you goofing off on the big screen, Wait, we see that every week! : ) God is doing great things in you and through you during this difficult time. Your trial is helping me press on through my trial, thank you! You are a blessing to us all. Get well and come back soon! Keep on keeping on! “..in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

*guffawing* Absolutely hilarious!!!
James, I just want you to know that I am blessed every day by hearing the messages you make available to us on here!
I heard a recent message where you were busting out ALL KINDS of archaeological finds to back up the Bible – SO AWESOME (and man, you crack me UP with how you say things like “these people out there, saying there’s no such place as Jericho…..OOOOPS!!!” just… the tone you use…hilarious…wish I could play various sermon bits for people randomly as needed!). You commented that you had a LOT, LOT more material but no time to share it all with your congregation. I was wondering if you could possibly put up your findings online, if you can find the time to? I would dearly love to have as much material as possible at hand to refute the junk I hear and read.
Get well, and God bless you and keep you going strong!

February 21st, 2009 at 9:45 am
We love you so much and love the Price is Right, (we have it on WII). You are absolutely my favorite right now and I know we aren’t supposed to have favs but I can’t help it. We are in a CRISIS right now and your GRACE series has helped us so much. We love to hear you on Walk in the Word every morning when we take our kids to school. We are from Calvary Chapel Monterey Bay, boy I wish you could visit…..We had no idea about about the cancer and heart is aching so much for you right now and the tears just came pouring out. It makes my 2-year long trial seem like so little when I have made it soo much. Nevertheless, I know our Lord and Savior customizes everything just as he has customized you and we want you to know that we are fervently praying for you.

James,
I have only recently started getting the blog and were not aware that you and the Lord were fighting cancer. May God continue touching you and heal you. You had previously said you were there for your health but I didn’t think anyone went to California for the waters!
It’s great to see your sense of humor staying strong. What show is next–Jeopardy?
February 21st, 2009 at 1:38 pm
Hello from the mountains east of Albuquerque and missing your ministry… Until I was tipped off by a church member recently that Walk in the Word is now available here too! What a blessing! Sharing all those old sermons from HBC-Rolling Meadows-with new friends… should have had them autographed by you, a Price is Right star! 10 years since my cancer diagnosis and more thankful each day. God is awesome. Thanks for all you do. Hello to Kathy. I miss her so much!
February 21st, 2009 at 3:21 pm
Kathy,
Just want you to know that my family and I are praying for you as you love your amazing husband through this trial. If he is as amazing as he is then you must really be something else. You know what they say about “behind every great man!”
Know that you are loved and valued from afar even though we have never met.

Pastor James MacDonald,
It is ironic but, the only 2 shows I watch on tv are
the price is right with Drew Carey and Wheel of Fortune.
So, if it’s okay with your wife, will you also make an
appearance on the Wheel of Fortune? I listen to WITW,am a Change Partner, and I listen to Sunday’s message every week on my computer. Your messages are the most sensible and impacting part of my week and God has shown His love in the work you do for Harvest. Peace and Love. S.Cla

God works in mysterious ways doesn’t he? I’ve had many experiences in my life where I can see his hand at work, sometimes over quite a period of time. James, I’ve listened to your radio broadcast for several year, and I attended your appearance in Orlando late last year where you briefly mentioned that 2008 was a tough year… dealing with a rebelious child and prostate cancer. I’ve suspected that I may have that same disease for months, so I’ve been searching the Internet for information. After my diagnosis of cancer was confirmed earlier this month, I went to your Walk In The Word website to see how you are doing. There you said you were going to California for Proton therapy. I hadn’t read anything about that type of cancer treatment in my Internet searches, so I googled it. Wow, I can see why you selected this option! It’s a much better option than the surgery that I though I would need. Now I’m praying that my bone scan and cat scan show that I am a viable candidate for Proton Therapy, and if I am, I plan to go to the University of Florida facility in Jacksonville. With God’s grace, I may become a member of BOB too. God bless you, and hang in there, brother.
February 22nd, 2009 at 3:45 pm
We were able to tape the entire episode and literally about fell off our chairs, rolling with laughter at your antics. It was soooo funny!!! And it was a great way to feel closer to our pastor while he’s so far away… thanks for the personal touch and hilariousness you gave the show. We will not be deleting that one from the DVR anytime soon… good for laughs for days and months to come, I’m sure!
Hey, Greg Laurie gave a phenomenal message this morning… wonderful. A ton of people went forward this a.m. in Elgin. I’m sure you’ll hear all about it soon. And even though it was great to have him, we miss you lots and are praying for you often.
God is with you, working through you in this amazing series about trials, and you’re having a huge impact even from a distance. Thanks for fighting hard, persevering, and we look forward to seeing you again in March. YOU ARE LOVED!
February 22nd, 2009 at 10:47 pm
WE LOVE YOU!
You are in our Prayers!
Ha, Funny thing…
I hadn’t looked at any other posts, and just as I had finished typing (in bold) “WE LOVE YOU!” I noticed Rochelle’s big & bold “YOU ARE LOVED!”
Coincidence?… Nah!
Yes…you are loved… by many… and by the most high!
Have a speedy recovery!

I really enjoyed watching you and your family having a good time…the joy of the Lord is our strength!
February 23rd, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Well it didn’t take long for you to fit right in with all the rest of us crazy Californian’s! I’m a Harvest family member and I can’t tell you how much your teaching has meant to my wife and I the past several weeks. Thanks for your boldness and your ‘in your face’ teaching of God’s Word. I prayed with you this past Sunday to be filled with the Holy Spirit and I have a renewed boldness to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and desire to walk in a ‘right’ relationship with our Lord. I pray that God will completely heal you of cancer! And I hope that you will teach a few more times before going back to your home church. To God be the glory!

Pastor James, Just wanted to update you on this past weekend with Pastor Greg. My wife and I spent our 24th Wedding Anniversary weekend bringing nine people to Harvest to hear Greg Laurie. We attended the Saturday evening service and the eleven o’clock service Sunday. It is our extreme joy to report that out of the nine who attended, and a few we have witnessed to and prayed for for years, TWO went forward to accept Jesus Christ and five who remained in their seats prayed the prayer to accept Jesus.
We were planning to bring a few people, but when we received your email last Friday, we kicked it in high gear and started inviting all our unsaved family and friends. Many declined.
We will continue to pray for your healing and recovery for you and your family as well. Also, your series on ‘Trials’ has been such a blessing. Here’s a kick, I have shared with my patients your sermons always, and one of my new patients was going through a rough period and he started listening to the CD’s I gave him on this series. I then invited him to church this weekend and he brought his wife and two children. They are catholic, and they prayed the prayer and have decided to come back to Harvest again next weekend!
In closing, we just wanted to share with you how your trials have helped so many people and are reaching MORE people for Jesus Christ. We feel honored to partner with you and have been regular Harvest attendees.
We know how you appreciate new contemporary Christian songs and thought of you when we heard this:
TIMES/ I know I need You/I need to love You/I’d love to see You but it’s been so long/I long to feel You/I feel this need for You/Is that so wrong? Now You pull me near You/When I’m close I fear You/Still I’m afraid to tell You all that I’ve done/Are you done forgiving?/Can you look past my pretending?/I’m so afraid of defending what I’ve become/What have I become? Chorus: But I hear You say/My love is over/It’s underneath/It’s inside/It’s in between
The times you doubt me/And when you can’t feel/The times you question/Is this for real?/ The times that you’re broken/The times that you mend/The times you hate me/The times that you bend/My love is over/It’s underneath/It’s inside/It’s in between/The times that you’re healing/And when your heart breaks/The times that you feel like you’ve fallen from grace/The times that your hurting/The times that you heal/The times you go hungry and are tempted to steal/In times of confusion/In chaos and pain/I’m there in your sorrow under the weight of your shame/I’m there in your heart-ache/I’m there through the storm/My love I will keep you by My power alone/I don’t care where you’ve fallen or where you have been/I’ll never forsake you/My love never ends/It never ends. Song by Tenth Avenue North
Our prayer is to encourage you as you and your family has been for us. Also, tell Luke that we were praying for him this weekend and he did an awesome job leading us in worship and bringing people into the Lord’s presence. He is really maturing in his leadership of worship. Thank you, Rejoicing, David and Sharon Chow

Pastor James, I was shocked to hear of your cancer! Hey, let us guys, your radio/DSL listeners know, some way of a personal stuggle like this so we can pray for you and yours. I had no idea. I’m not a computer savvy, blog person so God must have led me here to find this news so that I can pray for you, and also as an encouragement to me. I was feeling down about a difficult lifelong health problem, but little in comparison to yours, and just knowing that you are going through such a fiery trial in such strength is always an encouragement. YOU ARE AN AWESOME PREACHER. I keep telling my teenagers, especially my 21 year old, listen to Pasor MacDonald, you’ll really like him, he speaks your language. That’s the language of the youth today — but you speak to be a midlifer too — bold and fearlessly with the truth of God! I love you in Chris — will be praying for a full and speedy recovery and that God eecks? out every lesson He wants you to learn from this so that nothing is wasted. Or maybe you’re sick for our benefit — to strenthen the flock as you persevere and God’s truths are put to the test.

James…
I am a high school teacher and I listen to you every morning on the way to work on WORD-FM (sometimes even at work on-line before the students get there). I cannot express in words how important starting the day with Walk in the Word has been for me. You ground me in God’s word and help me to maintain a Christ centered world view throughout the day in a place that is often devoid of Godly inspiration. I am a better father, husband, teacher, brother, and human because of your ministry.
Love God-Family First-Work Hard-Tell the Truth-Be Kind to People.
I pray for your speedy and total recovery and that God will lend you to us for many more years of inspiration and hope. May God continue to bless you and your family.

Pastor James, I have been blessed to find WITW on KCMH here in Mountain Home Ark. I have been listening thru 2008 and will continue to listen as long as you keep airing the program. I was so sad to hear you have prostrate cancer and must endure the treatments. I talked with my friend Del about you and being the prayer warrior that he is he immediately went into praywer for you. He said he felt a great warmth about you and feels that God’s right hand is upon you for a complete healing.
God bless you as you heal and hurry back to your church who I know must be anxiously awaiting your return. You have a beautiful wife and pray you will continue to bless us as we partake of the fruit of your ministry.
You are an awesome preacher and YOU ARE LOVED!
gOD BLESS,

Pastor James-
We are praying for you. It’s good to see you and your wife smiling through this trial….I thank you for obeying God’s calling and speaking truth in season and out. God is good all the time. Can’t wait to hear how God speaks to you through all this. Listening to you online and on our local radio station, God has spoken through you just in the moment I needed or even when I had no clue, your latest email devo “Don’t go there” So hit home with me.. The series “Downpour” has changed my walk with Christ I know I am breaking down strongholds and repenting of sin that has been in my heart for so long. He is increasing my Faith everyday..Praise be to GOD.

Pastor James,
back in 1993, my mother needed to travel to San Antonio, TX for daily radiation treatments for cancer in the bone of her left arm. It’s about a 4 hour drive, so my Dad and I took turns staying with Mom in quarters on the Air Force Base right next to the hospital Monday – Friday for about 8 weeks.
Let me tell you, those were some of the best times of my life. Mom’s treatment was over by 7:30 am, so we had all day in San Antonio to goof off and just spend quality time together. Despite the dire circumstances, my parents were blessed with lots of great time together, and I got to spend several weeks just one on one with Mom.
I’m sad to say that we lost Dad to cancer a couple years ago, but Mom is still with us these 16 years later, and we all have fond memories of that time. It looks like you’re finding the same opportunity to spend time with your family and just HAVE FUN. God is blessing you…

James,
I loved the video!!! You must have some sort of an infatuation with game shows!
Seriously, I am praying for you. My Dad survived colon cancer a few years back. It was a tough time for all (especially my Dad…chemo/radiation), but we got through it, my Dad’s hair grew back and he is back to normal now. Praise God!
I pray the same things for you…be tough, lean on God, and accept the peace of Jesus.

Hi Pastor James!
First of all let me give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for His Love, Mercy, and Grace. Also I would like to thank God for your Ministry and you as a Pastor. Let me tell you how much my life has been impacted by the way God uses you and your Ministry.
I recently (April 2008) lost my house, my car, my dog of 15 years. I’m also divorced (2001) and through it all the Word of God you’ve shared on the radio has made a difference on how I view life now. If it wasn’t for the Lord and the faithful Pastors that still teach the Word of God, I Don’t know where I would be to be honest with you.
I guess what I’m trying to say is Thank You soooo much from the bottom of my heart.
Since you mention something about laughter I thought you would enjoy one of my blogs (Laughter).

“A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones”
Proverbs 17:22
May God Bless you and give you complete healing in Jesus’ name, Amen.

James, glad to see you happy. I have been changed by your preaching from the Word for over a year and a half now while listening every morning on my commute to work in New York. I will be praying for you to beat Cancer. God will make you stronger from this and give you new experiences to preach about! Thanks for being someone who preaches with boldness and passion. The Gospel is really the power of God to change men’s lives.

Dear Brother in Christ.
I just want to say that the first time I heard you teach I thought this guy is on fire (crazy)!!! in a time where the word has been deluted to please ears, you continue to teach the Word straight up!!for that you have favor in Gods sight,we will continue to pray for your full recovery so that you may continue to shout from the roof tops.
May the Lord continue to bless you and your family.

Dear Pastor James,
We have been so amazingly encouraged by you during the last nine months as our 7 year old son battled cancer. We’ve quoted you so many times as you have so encouraged us to hold on to the precious promises of our Lord!
You’ve kept us looking for ways that the Lord provides “escapes” – people who encourage, Make a Wish trips, phone calls, emails.
You’ve reminded us of the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!
We have so many times thanked the Lord for you in the midst of our journey and we will pray for your battle here just because we selfishly want to keep you here – as we know you for you to live here is Christ and is indeed our gain…
Yet, we also know if the good Lord calls your name it will be for your gain and we will bless His name for that as well.
Our love and prayers from Minnesota -
Deb & Tom Henderson
Our dear son Ian flew to glory last Thursday (2/19)…he believed in the Lord Jesus and was baptized in November!

Kathy and James,
Thank you so much for your openness and vulnerability. Praying for you that you see His glory and you seek to live it out for His glory. I grew up in that area and was just visiting my 94 year old Mom. Living north of San Francisco now going through my own trial here…thanks for the encouraging “travel” notes. God continue to bless
February 25th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
Just wanted to add me too to all that has been said and:
I love you brother – and your family too.
I have been blessed by your teachings and now you are a precious example of remaining faithful to the faith during great trial. This is one of those “where the rubber meets the road” times isn’t it? But God IS faithful and true and all will see how you are more than a conquerer through Christ Jesus who loves you.
Standing with you in the faith.
February 26th, 2009 at 1:47 am
I just want to thank you James for teaching the word of God.
You have that cancer in you, so that people will see the power of our Saviour Jesus Christ in you.
God Bless you and you family.
February 26th, 2009 at 9:21 am
Too COOL! I had a good laugh. You should hire out for studio audiences–it could only help the ratings.
You look well. Best wished on the pending completion of your treatment. I’ve lost a few (of a small family) relatives to cancer. The treatment can be so hard. It’s good to see you bearing the adversity with a smile! That’s the only way, and the Lord is Blessing. Be sure you are getting the best treatment–the Lord is caring for you.
February 26th, 2009 at 11:26 am
Pastor James,
I just heard of your current battle. My prayers will be with you and your entire family during the upcoming weeks and months, asking God for a full recovery.
May God be truly glorified through this unexpected journey you are now walking through.
PS: Congratulations on your new grandson. The blessings never stop do they???
With prayer and thanksgiving,

James,
My prayers are with you and your family. What a prophet you are. I’ve been listening to your segments now for over a year and you have helped me through many days. I am blessed to listen to you as I work at my job. I just wish I could hug you and help you through your days. Just know that my prayers are lifting you up as many are all over the world. Many blessings to you and your family as you go through these weeks. What a friend we have in Jesus, as the song says. That song has helped me also through many trials in my life.
May God continue to bless you and your ministry.

I only found out about your cancer last night when Jim, my husband prayed for you during our family prayer time. I was curious enough to do a little search about how things are going with you and found this! We will continue to pray for you. Our family have been blessed by your preaching and teaching. We live in NY but Jim subscribed to the podcast.

That’s Hillarious, the “Price is Right” peice.
Hi James,
This is neat. What a wonderful way to talk with you. I love your “Walk in the Word” broadcast. I’ve been lissening to you for over 10 years now. Its a wonder I’m still lissening because I have stopped lissening to all the other Christain broadcast. It isn’t the fact that you are never boring (well most of the time you’re not), but I find more truth in your messages than anybody else. And it helps me to reconcil not only with GOD but also myself and others. We know life is day to day. And sometimes GOD’S word from you is what I hear.
GOD bless.

Pastor James,
I used to live in Carol Stream IL(I am in Charlotte NC now)and always enjoyed listening to you on the radio on the way to work in the afternoons. I learned so much from you. You are an incredible teacher of the Word. You soooo rock the Word! You helped change my life.
Hearing about your cancer was a huge shock. I am praying for your recovery. Keep up the good fight! I am a respiratory therapist have seen that faith and attitude make all the difference. God Bless you and your family.
All my love and prayers, Andrea

Pastor James,
My deepest gratitude to you for your on air teaching. I can’t properly express the enormous impact you have had on my husband’s life. I can only catch your sermons so often but he has the privilege of hearing you every day. He loves how passionate you are about the Lord.
As two fairly new Christians who not too long ago were really far from GOD, it is amazing to see how much Jesus Christ has changed us. I know you have been very instrumental in helping us grow our faith.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will continue to pray for you and your family. You are a man I much admire.

Pastor James , I tell you what is most encouraging is the influence your preaching (God through you) is doing with the people of God. These posts are so encouraging to me that people are hungry to follow Him and want to live righteous lives and honor Jesus. There is a strong need in the church for preaching without apology and a large contingent of Christians who do not want their ears tickled, foremost among them, me! Thanks for the messages through WITW, and Harvest Bible Chapel. Our lives are changed as a result and our goal is to raise our 2 1/2 year old with the same vision. May God continue to bless the church with the likes of James Macdonald, John Macarthur, John Piper , Joe Stowell, Crawford Loritts, Erwin Lutzer, Allister Begg, Tony Evans , and many others who preach the Word in season and out WITHOUT APOLOGY, we CRAVE it…Jim Denk

We wrote this on the calendar when you mentioned it at church and still missed it!! I’m SO glad you have the video on your site. The kids and I laughed so hard
Congratulations on your new Grandson.
Your messages have been so awesome Pastor James. I started a Lyme Support Group with Renee Gilman & Stephen Nahavo in Elgin and have sent many people to our Harvest site to hear your messages on Turning Trials to Gold.
You both are such a blessing to so many!!!! We are praying for you both and look forward to having you back in the chilly Mid West.

Hey James.
I just wanted to you to know that we are praying for you up here in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
I just seen a clip of you preaching your new series and it started me thinking about what you said. When christians go through trials, it is to show the stark contrast between us and non christians. How profound and true that is.
You are truly a great example of a man going though a trial with God at his side. It is Gods job to decide how to finish what he started in you. Your job is to keep on keeping on. And from what I can see, you are doing just that. God Bless you brother.
I listen to your show everyday in the car when I am driving around and as any of my friends would tell you… Don’t bug Reg from 2 – 2:30 because he is busy. lol.
Anyways… I hope you and your family grow stronger and closer as a result of trials you are enduring together.
Take care and get better.
Our prayers go out for you from the great white north.

Dear James,
Let me start with I pray for your healing physically and mentally.
I read about you and Greg Laurie sharing your churches. Talk about no boundaries that can’t be broken. Its ironic that the first person I ever heard on the radio was Greg and I started listening to him on the web. Then one day Earlie on in my new walk with God. I could no longer get Greg’s web site. I came upon yours. You use to make me so mad I could hardly even listen. I know that sounds strange to allot of people even to my self but conviction is conviction. It took someone as tuff and no nonsense as you to drive the word straight to my heart and soul. I listen to your podcast every day and have saved all of them since Earlie 06. I have Greg Laurie’s too. I know I’M not suppose to have favorites but the two of you are like John the Baptise and Jesus to me the way you bring the word of God to his flocks. Some day I would like you and Greg to baptise me in the name of Jesus!
P.S. I like the funny you too.
God bless you James!

Hey, James! What a hoot that video is to see you goofing around…you’re no different than the LBBC days, which is great to see!
I listen to you all the time by podcast and greatly appreciate your unwavering stand for Christ and your unshakeable faith in our awesome God! You are a true brother and your preaching has continued to encourage me as I serve the Lord, reaching others in our country’s Armed Forces (Canada – yeah, you’re still from there, bro!)
May our God, who is rich in love, grace and comfort completely heal you and bring restoration of heart, mind, soul, and body to you and your family as you walk through this journey with Him. I am praying for y’all.
Blessings abundant on you

Pastor James,
I used to be late for work sitting in the parking lot just waiting for your program to end. I didn’t want to miss a word! (changed cars, no reception) It is so awesome to hear a pastor speak the truth. What an awesome place this world would be if everyone would actually hear it. If I was a man, I would want to be just like you until Jesus comes back! Well, you know what I mean. I’m sure that you sometimes leave the toilet seat up!
I think that you are a great teacher/preacher who speaks the truth in love. And I know that I speak for all who listen to you when I say that we love you. I know that your words will have brought forth a righteous & loving spirit in so many. And take heart, because the prayers of the righteous are powerful & effective. Your words gave me comfort in a time of great trial. I pray that the words of all the saints will will encourage & lift you up. We aren’t finished with you & i for one, am prepared to wrestle with God over that. Thank you to you and your family for your years of service today and always. God bless you and yours.

Hola Pastor James!! You and your wife at Price is right? I think it’s fantastic, I was just laughing thinking about the two of you there, we used to watch that show all the time so we could learn some English, We didn’t understand much, but it was fun. , We just moved to Toronto, but we used to live in Bradford, near Barrie, of course we went to hear your message when you came to Barrie, so please can you come back again as soon as you finish with your treatments? I’m sure the Lord is sitting right beside you when you go through those treatments. We are praying for you, we love you and in front of me we have your calendar, it’s beautiful, thank you for doing that,by the way, my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer in October, he doesn’t accept any treatment, he gave it to the Lord, and his natural pills, he is in such peace, working at his bicycle store, and waiting for summer so we can go cycling.
I apologize about my English, We send you all our love and prayers. Gloria and Hernan
Your grandson is beautiful, God bless him.

James, Kathy and family-
Your series “I Really Want to Change….” changed my life several years ago. As a backslidden christian who was getting farther ande farther from God it hit me right between the eyes. Since then I fell off the wagon but have jumped back on 100% this time. I am tired of disappointing my great God with trying to live life half in the world and half for Him, it doesnt work. Through much prayer and cying out to God and thanks to your incredible ministry I am for the first time in my life really seeking what God wants for me and not what I want (which has never been anything but heartache)!!!! The peace that is there even in these difficult times and knowing that no matter what happens it has been allowed by God and He will be there to help me through. You are such a gifted speaker and I thank my incredible Savior that I get the priviledge to listen to you on the web and through your cd series. I sometimes wonder how the great pastors stay great but I can see that God chooses wisely those He knows will always always seek Him and only Him. Cancer is a devastating event in anyones life. I know that God is giving you much renewed teaching material and I cant wait for the next 20 years of listening to Gods great words that will come out of this time of trial for you! God Bless you and your family! You are in my prayers often!

I was getting to know you and your wife better by tooling around on this blog when I came across the Price is Right video.
I had to go get my puffer cause I was laughing so hard.I kept playing it over and over.
What a hoot.
How is it that everyone around you look involved in the actual game and the show and the contestants but you are mugging for homies?
Well, I take that back, Kathy looked stunned, like she couldn’t believe what you were doing. Then she looked at the monitor to see if you could really be seen!
Too, too funny.
I am an interpreter for the deaf and as such know the value of clear enunciation. I have to say that your oral skills are top of the line.
“I have no idea! None!”
(and you looked so happy about it.
Airfare to California: $$

Dear James,
I took a Downpour class with a small group in my church (Harrison UMC in Pineville NC). I get your messages weekly and had no idea you were fighting cancer. I am praying for your healing in Jesus’s name.
Love your appearance on this game show. Weren’t you a contestant on a game show a couple of years ago?

It’s great to see you guys having so much fun. I also just want to say thanks for your message “Why God?”. It gave me a whole new perspective of my trials. Your message came at a perfect time for me and my family as we are going through serious issues in my family. You’ve been a great encouragement to take hold of God’s promises for my life and to remain under the trial until God completes His work in me.
Thanks and I’m praying for your quick recovery.

You have been such a blessing to me and my family . I pray for you total and complete recovery, because I believe God does all things well.

We are praying for you and are encouraged by your steadfast faith and commitment to Christ and the gospel even in the face of such an affliction as cancer. I really enjoyed the clip of you on the Price is Right. It’s nice to see you being a bit nutty and having fun with your family. Thanks for the ministry outreach through radio, internet and crusades. This ministry has blessed my life so much over the years and I appreciate the correction and edification of God’s word as presented in such a clear and inspiring light. My sister prayed the sinners prayer and gave her life to Christ during a trip you made to Burlington, Ontario and my son also was reached via your radio teaching and has given his heart and life to Christ.
Keep trusting the Lord for healing and help through this trial and we await good news at the end of your treatments.
In Christ,
Elizabeth Gaasenbeek

Dear Pastor James,
You will be continually in my prayers. I have been listening to you for a couple of years now and am blown away by the way you minister God’s word to a hurting world. If it were proper to be a “groupy”, I might just start a club!
His light shines through your voice, your rhythm, your intonations, your jokes, your parallels, your insight and He blesses me. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Pastor James, I hope you remember me from several years ago. They guy you traded shoes with in Concord California at the couples retreat. At the time, I had been a police officer for some 15 years. I believed the Lord had a calling on my life for ministry and that weekend He confirmed it. I told the Lord that day, just a Peter had that I loved Him more than any pile of fish (job, fill in the blank…ect). My wife and I returned home to northern california and opened our home to foster children and I also enrolled in Bible college via Internet through CC Costa Mesa. That’s when all everything broke lose. Within a year my wife’s cancer which we had been battling on and off for about 9 years came back. She had a successful Mastectomy (again) and chemotherapy. Through all of it, we continued to praise the Lord. Within two years I was fired from my position as a police officer because the administration refused to believe one of its supervisor commited perjury. Within the next two years my wife and I took care of and love more than 15 Foster Children and were able to reunify them with their parents who all came to know the Lord and His love. Just last year cancer returned to my wife’s tent and it spread to her brain. Within 6 months she went home to be with the Lord, but not before we were able to finalize the adoption of our 2 year old son and 3 year old daughter. Some may ask, would a loving God allow all this to happen to save to very damaged foster kids. I would say to them, as my daughter’s teacher (secular school) explained to me, Sharon gathers the children together during break and tells them about “Jesus” and God’s love every Monday and Thursday.
The Lord richly bless you and your family. Thank you for your faithfulness to His word.
Bobby
